Summer Term 1
Although this was only a four week half term, it was still certainly a busy one for Class One!
Our topic this half term was Once Upon a Time. We focussed on traditional tales with a plant theme, our main one being Jack and The Beanstalk. We enjoyed reading and acting out the story and we were amazed when a giant beanstalk grew in our classroom.
In Science we enjoyed growing our own bean plants from seeds. We enjoyed observing them grow each week and we couldn;t quite believe how tall they grew. We have now all taken our palnts home and we look forward to seeing them grow further in our gardens.
We have loved our PE lessons with Mrs Kitson who has been teaching us how to perform a maypole dance. We look forward to sharing these with parents and the rest of the school at our Summer Fair.
Summer Term 2
As we enter our final half term of Year One we are preparing ourselves to become the oldest children in Key Stage One.
We have been continuing our Once Upon a Time topic, this half term focussing more on traditional tales with an animal theme. We have really enjoyed looking at the story of The Three Little Pigs and we are starting to explore some alternative versions of the story.
In Science we are finding out about the way in which animals are grouped. We have been finding out about mammals and reptiles and we are really enjoying our topic so far.
